This resource serves as a dietary guideline for consumers, but also for policy makers as they construct federal health and nutrition programs.  It includes a number of recommendations on how to make Americans healthier, as well as a general explanation of what it means to eat healthily. “The Dietary Guidelines for Americans serve as the basis for Federal food and nutrition education programs.”
